The
Lodge
The
Memorial Lodge was originally constructed in 2005, funded
by generous donations, and was officially dedicated on September
7th 2005 by the Bishop of Ely.
The Lodge was initially
intended to provide facilities for visitors to the Ground,
and shelter on inclement days. It is always open when funerals
take place, so visitors may use the toilet facilities and
take shelter if needed.
Whilst the Lodge
is not a chapel, it was used increasingly for services and
gatherings following funerals but given the size limited numbers
to approximately 25-30 people for a service.
Recognising both
the limitations on such use largely due to its size, and the
real need for a facility of this nature, in 2010 the Trustees
decided to extend the Lodge. The Lodge now offers room for
approximately 75 people for a service, as well as a separate
area for gathering prior to and following services. Additional
toilet facilities and staff areas have also been created.
A charge is made for for use of the facilities for services
etc.- please ask for details
When is the Lodge open?
The Memorial Lodge is always staffed each Wednesday morning.
This is the one time during the week we guarantee
there will not be any funerals taking place. We would
be delighted to welcome you between 10am and 12 noon and discuss any questions you
may have. If you intend to visit and are coming from some
distance, it is advisable to call in advance, not only to
check that we will be available (staff commitments can vary),
but also so we can stay on should you be delayed. We are happy
to meet at other times by appointment (Monday to Friday).
