Ground
Maintenance
The
Aim of the Arbory Trust is to provide a natural woodland setting
for burial, blending careful management of the grounds with
the restoration of indigenous flora and fauna wherever possible.
The
Trustees are responsible for the management of the site, and
a Management Plan is in place, which is reviewed annually.
The
main pattern of maintenance is:
A
Spring perimeter mow of the Glades to ensure
access. At this time, graves may also be strimmed of thistles
or other excess growth. Any wild flowers may therefore be
trimmed, but will flower a little later.
This
perimeter mow may be repeated depending on weather conditions.
As
late as possible in July the main mow of
the all the Glades will take
place, along with strimming and/or scything where deemed necessary.
A
further mow (possibly more) will follow in late Summer/early
Autumn, again depending on weather conditions.
Whilst
any of the above is in progress, your patience is requested.
The larger tasks can take up to three weeks to complete, and
will always be weather dependent, so should you visit and
find work in progress, please bear with us.
If
you have any questions about the maintenance programme, do
please contact the staff.
